The intensive outpatient program at our hospital in Memphis, TN, offers structured clinical support for adults who have been struggling with mental and behavioral health concerns.
Who Can Participate in IOP?
As is the case with all programs at Crestwyn Behavioral Health Hospital, entry into our adult IOP is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Each prospective patient will complete an admissions assessment so that we can determine their ideal level of care.
However, in general terms, our IOP is designed for men and women, ages 18 and older, who fit into one of the following categories:
- Adults who have completed an inpatient program, but who still need step-down support as they prepare to transition out of treatment
- Adults whose needs merit more structured support than they can receive via traditional outpatient therapy, but who do not require round-the-clock supervision
If you complete residential and/or partial hospitalization programming at Crestwyn, you can ensure continuity of care by transferring directly into our IOP. Of course, our IOP is also open to adults who have participated in more intensive programs at other treatment centers, as well as those who have not previously received care for their mental or behavioral health concerns.
What Disorders Does IOP Treat?
The following are among the more common disorders that we treat via IOP at Crestwyn Behavioral Health Hospital:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma
- Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Substance abuse and addiction
- Self-harm
- Family discord
It is important to understand that this is by no means a complete list of disorders that may qualify a person for care in our IOP. Determining whether you are a good fit for IOP is a matter of identifying the disorder or disorders that you have been experiencing, evaluating the nature of your symptoms, and deciding which services will best help you to achieve your goals.
What Happens in IOP?
The specifics of your time in IOP will be governed by your strengths, needs, and treatment goals. In general, though, your IOP experience will likely consist of the following three activities:
- Psychoeducational groups that will provide you with valuable information about mental health disorders and/or addiction
- Process groups that will offer a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings while also learning from the experiences of others
- Check-ins with a therapist that allow you to work through your emotions, establish goals, and process your progress
Groups are conducted during every IOP session. The frequency of individual check-ins will be determined by your personalized plan, as well as your progress in treatment.
Where and When Are IOP Sessions Held?
The intensive outpatient program for adults is conducted at Crestwyn Behavioral Health Hospital. Our hospital is located at 9485 Crestwyn Hills Drive in Memphis, Tennessee.
